Welfare Officers

British Taekwondo is looking for committed and compassionate individuals to support the 2025 National Kyorugi Championships as voluntary Event Welfare Officers.

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a safe and respectful environment at one of the biggest events in our competition calendar.

Staged at EIS Sheffield on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th October, the 2025 National Kyorugi Championships promises to be another amazing spectacle of our sport, and we need your help to make sure all athletes are given the support they need across the weekend.

As an Event Welfare Officer, you will play a key role in safeguarding the welfare of all participants – particularly children, young people, and vulnerable adults. You’ll ensure that safeguarding procedures are followed and concerns are dealt with swiftly, sensitively, and appropriately.

Welfare Officers will serve as the first point of contact for any safeguarding or welfare concerns raised during the event, and will be monitoring event areas to help maintain a safe and welcoming environment for everyone in attendance.

Working closely with the Event Safeguarding Lead and other organisers, you’ll help ensure that safeguarding concerns are managed efficiently and confidentially. Where needed, you will support individuals in distress, signpost appropriately, and help log incidents or concerns in line with British Taekwondo safeguarding protocols.

Experience in a welfare or safeguarding role – ideally within a sporting environment – is preferred, although not essential. You should have a solid understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures, and the ability to stay calm and clear-headed in high-pressure situations.

What You Will Gain

This is a rewarding opportunity to gain hands-on safeguarding experience at a major national sporting event. Volunteers will receive complimentary access to the Championships all weekend, including the option to bring a guest.

Meals and refreshments will be provided during your shift. We can also offer a volunteer reference on request. Most importantly, you’ll be part of a supportive and passionate team working together to make the event safe and enjoyable for everyone involved.
