Coach Education

British Taekwondo is aspiring to become a world-leading National Governing Body over the next ten years. To achieve this aim, we require a top-quality Coach Education Pathway for our coaches.

Assistant Coach Award

The first step in the process was the creation of the Assistant Coach Award in January 2022.

The Assistant Coach Award helps all those assisting sessions gain invaluable knowledge and experience, whilst working alongside their club coach in a class setting as they progress through the award.

All current Assistant Coaches within British Taekwondo clubs or, members who are 16 years or older with a red belt or higher grade hoping to get into coaching, can sign up to take the British Taekwondo Assistant Coach Award.

Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Taekwondo

The Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Taekwondo launched in November 2023.

This nationally recognised qualification is for coaches wishing to lead sessions, teach unsupervised in a club, or coach unsupervised at a competition.

Open to any British Taekwondo member aged 18 years and above, holding the grade of red belt or above, who wants to improve themselves and their club’s members.

Safeguarding

We want everyone to have the best possible involvement in Taekwondo and we strive to make sure that everyone who takes part is safe and happy.

There is mandatory training for all British Taekwondo coaches, as well as specific courses for club Welfare Officers.

Anti-Doping

All athletes have the right to compete in sport knowing that they, and their competitors, are clean. We believe in clean sport and work in partnership with UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) and our International Federation, World Taekwondo, to ensure that the integrity of our sport is protected.

We regularly share updates, education, and training opportunities through our website and social media.
