Taekwondo Technical Officials
Becoming a Poomsae Referee is a rewarding opportunity for Dan grades.
The pivotal role involves scoring competitors Poomsae which quantitatively ranks competitors Poomsae. The technical role is vital in the success of competitions. The Poomsae Referee department runs regular Poomsae Referee courses.
British Taekwondo Poomsae competitions follow the World Taekwondo Poomsae regulations. The Recognised Poomsae regulations can be seen here.
British Taekwondo Poomsae Referees have a transparent structure of progression. New Poomsae Referees start as Class 3. Poomsae Referees can then progress to Class 2 from 8 Poomsae Refereeing experiences* and completion of the Freestyle Poomsae Referee Qualification.
Subsequently, Class 2 Poomsae Referees can then progress to Class 1 following 8 Poomsae Refereeing experiences* and completion of the Para Poomsae Referee Qualification.
Class 1 Poomsae Referees are then able to progress to International Referee (IR). You can find out more about qualification eligibility here.
