Details of British Taekwondo event sanctioning for 2024, including the new 2024 Event Sanctioning Form.

The event sanction application period for 2024 will open on Tuesday 25th July 2023 and close at midnight on Sunday 20th August 2023. This sanction window is for Sport Taekwondo and Poomsae events.
The sanction window allows event hosts to submit a sanction request to British Taekwondo for consideration in the 2024 event calendar.
All sanction requests received during this period will be considered in line with the updated 2024 Event Sanction Policy. British Taekwondo will notify successful applicants before publishing the official 2024 event calendar.
If there are any dates in 2024 that remain available after the event of the sanction period British Taekwondo may, in consultation with the Referee Departments, permit additional sanction requests.
Online Q&A
Due to changes to the Sport Event Sanction Policy for 2024, British Taekwondo will host an online Q&A before the sanction application window opens. This session will be recorded and posted online, along with a written summary of the questions and answers.

Sport Event Sanctioning
The new Sport Event Sanction Policy for 2024 is largely the same as the 2023 version. You can find the new policy and a more detailed review of the changes here.
The key changes to note are:
- Event sanction requests must be submitted via digital form instead of paper, please see online form below.
- A slight increased in the maximum number of events permitted.
- Flat-rate hosting fees introduced to contribute towards growth of the sport event system.
- Hosts can now choose to complete athlete audits themselves, or to request British Taekwondo does it (this is a chargeable service at £1 per person). British Taekwondo will continue to audit Officials and Coaches.
2024 Event Sanctioning – Poomsae
British Taekwondo is working with the Poomsae Referee Department to develop a provisional Poomsae Event Sanctioning Policy. However, this will not come into effect before the 2025 event calendar.
To apply for a Poomsae event sanction in 2024, prospective hosts should email events@britishtaekwondo.org with the email subject line POOMSAE EVENT HOSTING.
Poomsae Event Sanctioning
The process for 2024 Poomsae event sanctioning is the same as in 2023. Potential hosts need to email the Poomsae event sanction form to events@britishtaekwondo.org before midnight on Sunday 20th August.
British Taekwondo is working with the Poomsae Referee and Performance Departments to develop a dedicated Poomsae Event Sanction Policy for 2025 and beyond.
