Dwarf Sports UK British Taekwondo

British Taekwondo is committed to making martial arts accessible and inclusive for everyone. As part of this commitment, we have established a strong and meaningful partnership with Dwarf Sports Association UK (DSAUK), an organization dedicated to promoting sport and physical activity among individuals with dwarfism and restricted growth conditions.

Through this collaboration, British Taekwondo has worked to create tailored opportunities for people of short stature to engage in Taekwondo in a safe, supportive, and empowering environment. This includes specialized coaching sessions, adapted training methods, and dedicated events that take into account the unique biomechanics and needs of individuals with dwarfism. By doing so, the organization not only promotes participation but also fosters confidence, discipline, and a sense of community among its participants.

British Taekwondo Para Poomsae Coaches Russell and Katy Watkinson have staged two sessions in association with DSAUK to give an experience of Taekwondo first-hand, often sparking long-term interest and involvement in the sport. These initiatives are important to promote inclusivity as we work closely with DSAUK to ensure best practices are followed.

Together, British Taekwondo and Dwarf Sports UK are breaking down barriers and proving that martial arts can be a positive, enriching experience for everyone. This partnership reflects British Taekwondo’s broader mission to champion diversity and ensure everyone has the opportunity to benefit from the physical and mental rewards of Taekwondo.
