British Taekwondo is pleased to announce that it will be appointing a new Non-Independent Non-Executive Director (NEDs) to its Board in this year, with the position specifically intended for individuals from the British Taekwondo community.
To help prospective candidates learn more about the opportunity and the responsibilities involved, British Taekwondo will be hosting an online Board Information Session between 15:00-18:00 on Wednesday 15th April.
The session will include presentations from current Board members, as well as from British Taekwondo President and former Non-Executive Director Sarah Stevenson-Jennings MBE, who will share insights into the role and the impact NEDs can have within the organisation.
This is an opportunity for members of the Taekwondo community to gain a clearer understanding of the role, ask questions and explore how they could contribute to the future direction of Taekwondo in the UK.
Non-Executive Directors play a vital role in supporting the organisation’s governance, providing independent oversight and contributing to strategic discussions that shape the future of British Taekwondo.
By bringing individuals with strong roots in the Taekwondo community onto the Board, the organisation aims to further enhance its understanding of the sport and the people who make it thrive across the UK.
What We Are Looking For
British Taekwondo is seeking individuals who can bring both knowledge and influence of Taekwondo and strategic thinking to the Board. In particular, we are looking for people who can contribute towards:
- Strategy: Providing specialised Taekwondo knowledge or experience to help shape business strategy.
- Performance Monitoring: Scrutinising executive management’s performance against agreed goals.
- Risk and Governance: Assisting with risk management frameworks, ensuring financial integrity, and upholding corporate governance.
- Network Access: Leveraging Taekwondo contacts to support business growth and partnerships.
- Constructive Challenge: Offering a “critical friend” perspective, challenging decisions to ensure they are robust and in British Taekwondo’s best interest
