Edward Baldock is a 12-year-old British Taekwondo member who currently trains at the Phoenix Taekwondo Club in Didcot, Oxfordshire and is diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorder (ASD).

Having taken up Taekwondo five years ago, Edward continues to show incredible determination and commitment to the Martial Art and has recently passed his Black Stripe Grading at his club. Edward is also an avid Scout and has recently been working towards his Martial Arts Badge in Scouting.

While working towards this prestigious honour, Edward has independently created his own video about “What Taekwondo Is” and what it means to him, as you can see below:

Edward is also a Para Poomsae Athlete competing in the P23 category and a regular at competitions across the UK, with two Gold medals and two Silver medals from competitions last year.

Having earned his Black Stripe Grading, Edward now has his eyes set towards his Black Belt in the future, and as he says himself says in his video, “the only ones who don’t get to Black Belt, are those who quit!”

Edward’s Taekwondo journey and dedication to the Martial Art is a powerful reminder of the positive impact British Taekwondo clubs can have within their local community.

Through inclusive coaching, supportive environments, and strong community values, clubs across the country are helping individuals build confidence, friendships, resilience, and a true sense of belonging both on and off the mats.
