British Taekwondo can confirm that the 2026 National Poomsae Championships will be brought forward to 31 October and 1 November, following a change from the previously advertised dates of 7-8 November.
Following feedback from the 2025 National Championships, extensive discussions with the University of Nottingham and careful consideration of the impact of such a decision , British Taekwondo believes a date change is the only viable solution to continue to upgrade and improve the quality of the Championships and improve the athlete and spectator experience at the event.
While every effort was made to retain the original dates, it was apparent that the competition experience will be improved by having more options to utilise space within the competition venue. By moving the event to the new dates, we can enable increased capacity in the competition hall and support the continued development of the British Taekwondo National Poomsae Championships.
David Ross Sports Village proved to be an outstanding host venue for the National Poomsae Championships in 2025, and we are delighted to be returning. We are confident that this change will be a positive one for our community, allowing us to offer a better competition environment and welcome even more athletes, coaches, officials and spectators under one roof.
British Taekwondo CEO Dave Marshall said:
“Changing the dates of a national championship is never a decision we take lightly, and we fully understand the impact this may have on some individuals and clubs.
“However, throughout our planning discussions it became clear that the option to have additional space within the venue was essential if we were to continue delivering the quality of event that our members expect and deserve.
“David Ross Sports Village is a great venue that allows our athletes, coaches and officials to perform to their highest potential and gives spectators fantastic access to support their family and friends on the mats.
