Open Poomsae

Held at the Soeverein in Lommel, Belgium, this event was organised by the Belgian Taekwondo Federation and Taekwondo Vlannderen on Saturday 19th October 2024.

The competition saw 345 competitors from across the globe take part in the event, demonstrating their skills in various categories. This included individual, pairs, and team events. This tournament was particularly important as it offered G2 ranking points, which are essential for athletes looking to enhance their standings in the Taekwondo world.

Participants ranged from cadets to seniors, with the event featuring a mix of single elimination and cut-off systems, depending on the category. The competition was intense, with high-calibre performances anticipated from both local and international athletes.

Three British International Poomsae Referees attended this event to represent British Taekwondo and Great Britain. Kambiz Ali, Bilal Naqshabandi and Carolina Barros Clark all officiated at this event, having been invited by Grandmaster Erik Baert, President of the Belgian Taekwondo Federation.

By representing British Taekwondo and Great Britain at this prestigious event, these three officials were able to demonstrate the highest skill in Poomsae refereeing, representing all of our British Taekwondo Poomsae referees.

About Poomsae Refereeing

Becoming a Poomsae Referee is a rewarding opportunity for Dan grades. It’s through this role that Kambiz, Bilal and Carolina were able to travel to Belgium to represent British Taekwondo and Great Britain at this event.

The pivotal role involves scoring competitors Poomsae which quantitatively ranks competitors Poomsae. The technical role is vital in the success of competitions. The Poomsae Referee department runs regular Poomsae Referee courses.
