British Taekwondo is proud to announce the team that will represent Great Britain at the forthcoming 2024 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships, set to take place in Hong Kong, China, from November 30th to December 4th. This event is the pinnacle of the Poomsae discipline and marks Great Britain’s highly anticipated return to the world stage after an absence of more than six years due to the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
A total of 33 athletes have been selected to represent Great Britain, hailing from 21 different clubs across the UK. This is the largest team that British Taekwondo has ever assembled for a World Poomsae Championships, reflecting the dedication and hard work of both the athletes and their clubs over the past few years. The team boasts a good blend of seasoned, experienced competitors, including medalists from the 2023 European Championships as well as previous World and European Championships, alongside some exciting new talents who will be wearing GBR on their doboks for the first time.

The 2024 World Poomsae Championships will be particularly exciting as they introduce a number of significant rule changes. Among these changes are new pair and team divisions in the senior categories (U50, U60, and O60), as well as updated Poomsae ranges for Cadet (U14), Junior (U17), and Senior (U30) categories, from which the compulsory Poomsae will be selected. These changes promise to add fresh dynamics to the competition, making this year’s championships one of the most anticipated in recent memory.
British Taekwondo would like to extend our congratulations to all the athletes who have been selected and we wish you all the best of luck in your preparations for this prestigious event. We are incredibly proud of the hard work, dedication, and perseverance displayed by our athletes and look forward to seeing you perform on the world stage.
