Reporting a safeguarding issue in Taekwondo.
Your safety and wellbeing matter.
If something has happened to you, or if you are worried about the safety or wellbeing of a child, young person, or adult at risk, we encourage you to speak to someone. You do not need to be certain that harm has occurred to raise a concern.
In the first instance, please contact your Club Welfare Officer. If you do not feel comfortable doing this, or if the concern relates to someone within your club, you can contact the British Taekwondo Safeguarding Team directly.
Making a Report
We understand that sharing concerns can feel difficult. We are committed to listening, taking concerns seriously, and responding in a supportive and sensitive way.
When making a report, please share as much information as you feel able to. It is okay if you do not have all the details. Our role is to listen, consider the information provided, and take appropriate steps to help keep people safe.
If Someone Is in Immediate Danger
If you believe a child, young person, or adult is at immediate risk of harm, or requires urgent medical assistance, please call 999.
If you are concerned about the safety of a child or adult at risk, you may also contact your local authority safeguarding team, such as Children’s Social Care, your local Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH), or Adult Social Care.
What Happens Next?
When you raise a concern, we will:
- Listen respectfully and without judgement.
- Take your concerns seriously.
- Explain what information may need to be shared and why.
- Work with relevant agencies where appropriate to help keep people safe.
- Treat information sensitively and in line with our safeguarding responsibilities.
If something doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts and speak to someone. By sharing concerns, you can help keep yourself and others safe.
