16 National Referees attend the recent National Poomsae Referee Workshop.

nat poomsae ref workshop

The British Taekwondo Poomsae Referee Department ran a National Poomsae Referee workshop over the weekend of the 3rd and 4th August at Bluewave Korean Martial Arts in Basingstoke. The workshop was led by Grandmaster Glen Culbert assisted by Master Gerry Reilly and attended by 16 National Referees from across the UK.

Day one covered practice on poomsae from Taegeuk Sa Jang to Hansu, with detailed analysis of some of the key scoring points and common errors in each poomsae. This was followed by a team dinner in the evening providing a relaxed opportunity to chat and exchange ideas.

The following day started with revision on recognised poomsae, including the recent rule changes, with some scoring practice on common error scenarios demonstrated by Master Coleen Reilly. This was then followed by detailed study of the Freestyle and Para Poomsae competition requirements and scoring.

British Taekwondo would like to thank Grandmaster Glen Culbert and Master Gerry Reilly for running the workshop, which will hopefully give rise to an annual workshop series.
