Clean Sport Week

Please join us in celebrating Clean Sport Week from the 22nd to the 26th May 2023.

This year, UK Anti-Doping’s annual awareness week will discuss Teamwork in Clean Sport.

The concept behind this year’s theme is around being a team player.

UK Coaching Week is taking place between the 5th and 11th June

UK Coaching Week is back on the 5th to 11th June 2023. The theme this year is an issue of great importance that has attracted significant public attention: ‘Duty to Care: The foundation of great coaching’.

As the week approaches, now is a brilliant time to prepare a blog, article, social media post, or video to highlight how your club’s coach embraces Duty to Care.

The British Taekwondo Poomsae Performance Department has had a busy and bright year, with regular open seminars and squad performance sessions taking place. You can read more here.

UK Officials at the Sweden Open Poomsae

Congratulations to the five UK Poomsae International Referees who were invited to officiate at ‘The 2023 Swedish G1’ in Stockholm on Sunday 30th April which was hosted by the Swedish Taekwondo Union.

The International Referees (IRs), namely Masters Glen Culbert, Kambiz Ali, Damian Duffy, Carolina Barros Clarke, and Bilal Naqshbandi travelled over the weekend to serve as officials at this G1 World Taekwondo-sanctioned event.

British Taekwondo National Poomsae Referee Course – London, Sunday 4th June

The British Taekwondo Poomsae Referee Department will be running a National Poomsae Referee course in London on Sunday the 4th June. The one-day course is open to both existing referees as well as those wishing to start on the Poomsae Referee pathway. The minimum requirement is 1st Dan and to be age 16+. Further details are here.

Member Health & Safety Update – May 2023

The Health & Safety Update covers the UK Government’s Concussion Guidelines for Non-Elite (Grassroots) Sport, Concussion and Head Injury management procedures, and information about a new non-head contact style of competition.

Are you using the DBS Update Service?

All British Taekwondo coaches in England are required to renew their DBS checks every three years. One of the cost and time effective ways of doing this is to join the DBS Update Service.

It’s great to see so many of our members already signed up!

Free Taekwondo and Yoga Health & Fitness sessions in Harpurhey, Manchester

An enjoyable, non-contact Taekwondo based fitness session is being piloted in Manchester in the coming weeks.

British Taekwondo’s new Health & Fitness pilot incorporates the fundamental elements of Taekwondo – including high intensity activity, flexibility, mobility, sport-specific Yoga and meditation. Find out more here.
