British Taekwondo is delighted to officially announce that we are now recognised by all of the Home Nation Sports Councils as the governing body for Olympic/ Paralympic WT Taekwondo, across the UK.
This recognition by Sport Scotland, Sport Wales, Sport Northern Ireland, Sport England and UK Sport reflects the confidence that British Taekwondo can make a real difference to ambitions for accessibility, participation and development across our WT, Kukkiwon & Martial Art communities, including working with other partners and styles of Taekwondo to improve grass roots sport.
Creating a Stronger Taekwondo Network across the UK
This recognition can give British Taekwondo clubs a clearer path to any local support and funding that might be available regionally, plus event and collaboration opportunities with a wider range of venues to make more of a difference in your areas.
It also gives our Instructor network opportunities to engage with local education and sports providers to offer Taekwondo in an accredited format with the backing of a fully Sports Council recognised governing body.
Over the coming months, British Taekwondo will also be engaging with Home Nation Sports Councils and wider partners to see how we can support the wider sporting system and our clubs.
