Level 2 Certificate Coaching Taekwondo 1600

In British Taekwondo’s aspirations to become a world-leading National Governing Body over the next ten years, we require a top-quality Coach Education Pathway for our coaches, and the Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Taekwondo is a very important step in this process.

Becoming a Level 2 Coach with British Taekwondo can help you to realise your full potential as a coach, with coaching soon becoming regulated by way of a nationally approved licencing scheme, led by Sport England, UK Sport and CIMSPA.

British Taekwondo believes this will help raise standards within clubs, better placing them to be a high quality provider of activity within its community, with all coaches wishing to coach at all British Taekwondo sanctioned Domestic Competitions required to hold a recognised Level 2 or have enrolled and started the course by September 1st 2025.

Ultimate Taekwondo Bispham Lead Instructor Sue Sadler recently passed her Level 2, and after 40 years teaching Taekwondo, she couldn’t speak highly enough of the course, with the engagement between coaches, as well as the clear, concise teaching helping her to pick up new tricks along her coaching journey.

She said: “It was a really great environment, we went into separate groups with different coaches and it was really interesting because everybody’s views on things are different, so it was great to see other people’s opinions, and how they go about coaching.

“When we all got back together we all discussed the situation, and each group had different opinions to our group, so it was great because other people had different feedback on different things.

“I have learned quite a lot of different things, I have been teaching for 40 years and I have done courses in the past, but the Level 2 has definitely helped, and at least we are now all on a level of understanding of what is expected as a coach.”

From start to finish, the Level 2 Coaching Course aims to help implement the best standards of Taekwondo coaching across the country, with standards in place to help coaches deliver high-quality coaching at British Taekwondo clubs.

With 12 hours of e-learning modules as well as another 12 hours of online tutor-led sessions, there is plenty to learn throughout your time on the course. Attendees will then have to put together a learning portfolio to plan, deliver and evaluate six working sessions, as well provide video evidence of their coaching in action.

As we all continue to learn together, our sport can continue to grow, and as more and more coaches take up the course over the next six months, Sue believes standards will rise even further as a result.

She continued: “Now everybody is aware of what is expected as a coach, and I think the most important thing I learned is that planning is the most important thing before you do a session.

“It is important that everybody is on the same page, and your assistant instructors all know what you are aiming for. That way, between gradings or before competitions, everybody is working towards the same goal.”

Not only are coaches developing and learning themselves, but they are expanding their own community, with the new friendly faces from the sessions another benefit Sue has already seen after passing earlier this year.

“It is well worth doing the course, you learn so much, and there were things I learned that I had never thought of,” she added.

“As well as that, when you are interacting with other coaches on the course, you take that forward to tournaments and it feels like we are now a team of coaches.”

As mentioned above, all coaches wishing to coach at all British Taekwondo sanctioned Domestic Competitions must hold a recognised Level 2 or have enrolled and started the course by September 1st 2025, making the Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Taekwondo a necessity for anyway continuing, or starting, their coaching journey.

The Level 2 Coaching Certificate Course costs £299, and you can sign up today by heading to the Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Taekwondo page.
