British Taekwondo and Range Sports sign new partnership

British Taekwondo and Range Sports are pleased to announce a new partnership between the two organisations helping to strengthen relationships and provide high quality uniforms to members of our national teams.

Help us with our disability awareness research

Over the next 12 months, British Taekwondo are improving and developing their disability resources for coaches and clubs through a series of accessible online toolkits. In order for these to be useful to clubs and coaches across the UK we need to collect information to ensure we are creating resources that cover the current disabilities we have in our clubs. Once we have achieved this, we will then expand our toolkits to cover a range of disabilities, so we have maximum participation potential. Please complete the surveys to help us.

Volunteer at the 2022 British Taekwondo National Championships in Sheffield

British Taekwondo is hosting the 2022 National Championships at the English Institute of Sport (EIS) Arena in Sheffield on the 24th & 25th September and invite you to volunteer!

Concussion Education in Taekwondo

British Taekwondo has partnered with TeachAids to further develop Concussion Awareness and Understanding in Taekwondo.

Players selected for World Taekwondo Poomsae Open Challenge II

Players from British Taekwondo’s GB National Poomsae Squad have been selected to compete in the Muju Taekwondowon Online 2022 World Taekwondo Poomsae Open Challenge II taking place in July and August.

British Taekwondo Sport Performance Department Membership Update – July 2022

Steve Jennings – Operations Manager of the British Taekwondo Sport Performance Department gave an update from the department.

Great Britain at the 2022 World Taekwondo Cadet Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria

The Great Britain team competed at the 2022 World Taekwondo Cadet Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria on the 28th-31st July. The event was an excellent learning experience for all involved. A big well done and congratulations to Alex Sherratt for winning the bronze medal in the -41kg category at the event.

Poomsae Referee Courses

Registration is now open for the upcoming Poomsae Referee Refresher and Qualification courses in Basingstoke on Sunday 7th August.

Martial Arts Seminar on Practical Self Defence

British Taekwondo held a 6-hour Martial Arts Seminar on Self Defence at the University of Birmingham (Ki Taekwondo Birmingham University) on Saturday 2nd July. Almost 70 members from clubs across the UK, Gibraltar and the Isle of Man attended the session.

Poomsae Performance Seminars

British Taekwondo’s Poomsae Performance Department’s Official Open Seminars kicked-off on Sunday 3rd July with a well-attended event in Bromley, London. This was followed by events in Falkirk, Scotland, Craigavon, Northern Ireland and Manchester. And there are more seminars coming up this month on the 14th and 21st August. Register online.

Kukkiwon Certificates Update

On 20th June 2022 Kukkiwon changed their website and the system to process Kukkiwon certificates. Each and every individual that applies for a Kukkiwon certificate must now join the TCON system and enter their details into the system.

Great Britain teams at the European Under 21 Taekwondo Championships

British Taekwondo’s Sport Performance department have pleasure in announcing the teams going to the forthcoming Under-21 European Championships, taking place in Tirana, Albania from the 27th to the 30th of September.

Taekwondo club success in membership, coach development and safeguarding

AMC Taekwondo in Stockport is growing membership numbers, training coaches and recently achieved the Safeguarding Code Mark in Martial Arts.

End of Year Celebration & Awards

The British Taekwondo End of Year celebration is a special event to recognise and celebrate the achievements of the Taekwondo family in the UK. In 2022 we will host the event in Manchester and hope to welcome as many of the British Taekwondo community as possible to mark another year, our 40th, in style. Further details about tickets will follow shortly.

2023 Events Programme

British Taekwondo is working to confirm the dates of its 2023 events programme with a view to announcing the calendar at the end of August 2022. In the interim period, any event sanction requests will be saved for review until after the British Taekwondo calendar is confirmed. We are working closely with event hosts and volunteer departments to ensure the calendar works for as many as possible.
