Day Two Report Poomsae

Day two of the British Taekwondo National Poomsae Championships delivered another exciting showcase of talent, teamwork, and technical excellence across a wide range of divisions, as our Poomsae Community continued to showcase their excellence at David Ross Sports Village in Nottingham.

With Kup, Para and Mixed Family competition across the second day of action, Sunday offering delivered a comprehensive view of the depth and diversity within our Poomsae Community across the UK.

It was a day to remember for Loughton Taekwondo, who took home the Overall Team Trophy as well as the Kup Team Award, as they highlighted their incredible talent across the board with a string of impressive performances across the weekend to claim 32 gold medals.

Aquila Taekwondo also performed well in Nottingham and claimed second spot overall, as well as finishing runners-up in the Kup and Para Divisions, while National Taekwondo Club (NTC) claimed third spot overall, as well as the Para Team Award.

There were plenty of highlights from all divisions on Sunday, Hoi Ying Fung of Lisburn Taekwondo Club impressing in the U14 Female category to take gold, while Jake Pugh of Aquila Taekwondo showed consistency in both accuracy and presentation in the U14 Male division.

In the K3 U9 Male category, Ka Yin Nathan Ng from Shin’s Academy led the field with scores reaching 7.317, followed closely by Aadi Potbhare from Aquila Taekwondo. Their performances highlighted the high level of technical skill and presentation even among the youngest competitors.

The K1 U17 Female Junior division saw Blancka Sobiecka of Total Taekwondo earn gold with an average score of 7.817, while Aayushma Gurung (STKDD) in the K1 U30 Female division and Hin Tung Isaac Ng (London Taekwondo Academy) in the K2 U30 Male division showcased elite-level poomsae to become National Champion.

In the Pair Kup divisions, the competition was fierce across all age groups. Aquila Taekwondo’s Khehon AlexanderPearson and Rioghnach Iadicicco topped the K2 U11 category, while Ammaar and Asma Sheikh led the K2 U14 division. The K3 U9 category was dominated by Eleia Sen and Oisin Iadicicco, who delivered flawless performances. Senior pairs such as Ethan Wilson-Davis and Amelie Thurstan (K3 U30) and Zofia Hermaszewska and Friedrich Sarigumba (K2 31+) demonstrated refined technique and composure, rounding out a strong showing across all levels.

Win Taekwondo Academy clinched gold in the U9 Female Team competition with standout performances from Ania Panova, Skyla Le Cheminant-Spiers, and Radiya Azwaa Saraswati.. The male counterpart in the same category saw Shin’s Academy dominate, with Jake Shearer, Ka Yin Nathan Ng, and Archit Patil earning top marks.

The Family Kup and Family Mixed Grade competition was also in full flow on Sunday, as we got the chance to highlight the spirit of Taekwondo as a family-oriented martial art, with impressive performances across generations. These events showcased not only technical skill but also the harmony and synchronization that come from training together as a family.

In the Family Kup division, the trio of Alan, Hanna, and Sophie Shum from Phoenix Taekwondo emerged as the top performers, scoring a combined average of 6.883, thanks to their consistent execution and strong presentation. Close behind were Alba, Julia, and Santiago Gillespie from Loughton Taekwondo, who demonstrated excellent Poomsae form and teamwork.

The pair category was equally competitive, with Myron Scheiber and Yi-Jia Hsu from London Taekwondo Academy leading with a score of 7.051, followed by Jane and Lois Fikuart from Aquila Taekwondo, who impressed with their synchronization to score 6.984.

The Family Mixed Grade division brought together a diverse range of family combinations, including parents and children, siblings, and multi-generational teams. The standout performance came from Susanto Bayu Prakoso, Prasila Heni Ekaputri, and Radiya Azwaa Saraswati of Win Taekwondo Academy, who scored a remarkable 7.167, showcasing fluid movements and strong stances.

The pair category saw Ahmad Qoreishi and Alina Rasouli from London Taekwondo Academy take the top spot with a score of 7.233, narrowly edging out Rommel and Adam Casaclang from Win Taekwondo Academy.

Finally, the Para Poomsae divisions were a highlight of inclusivity and excellence, and spirit of para-athletes across various classifications and age groups.

In the B-Class divisions, standout performances came from William Burton in the P23 U11 Male category. Similarly, Jessica Cassidy and Angelo Zotti from Kixstar Dragon Taekwondo, led their respective U14 Female and Male categories with scores above 8.0, showcasing excellent poomsae execution and consistency.

The C-Class divisions saw strong performances from Mason Gbedemah (Aquila Taekwondo) in the P21 U11 Male category and Peyton-Grace Higgins (Kang Han Mansfield) in the P21 U14 Female category.

In the A-Class divisions, Peter Sellwood from Central Taekwondo Academy dominated the P21 U17 Male category with scores reaching 8.766, while Lucy Sellwood led the P23 U14 Female category with a fabulous 8.750. These results reflect not only technical excellence but also the high standards of training and preparation.

The adult categories also featured exceptional performances. Bradley Brockies (Polaris Taekwondo) and Summer Waheed (NTC) topped the P21 18+ Male and Female divisions respectively, both scoring above 8.0. In the P60 18+ Male category, William Mcnish from NTC delivered a flawless performance.

Day Two of the British Taekwondo National Poomsae Championships was a celebration of skill, unity, and competitive spirit. With high-calibre performances across all divisions, the event was a huge celebration of our Poomsae Community.
