Said Khelwatty, Non-Executive Director

I have a diverse background that encompasses academia and Taekwondo, which puts me in a unique position of transferring skills across these two vast fields of expertise. As an educator and experienced athlete as well as a successful club coach, I have dedicated myself to nurturing talent and driving the sport to new heights, throughout a career spanning over 25 years. As a result, I bring an exceptional set of skills and strategic insight of various roles at various levels to the Board of British Taekwondo.

During my last two terms serving the Board, I have taken pride in the positive contributions I have made to the organisation. I have always led the discussions around several topics with integrity, transparency, and fairness in mind and the overall benefit to British Taekwondo.

Dr. Said Khelwatty

The biggest contribution that I feel I have made to British Taekwondo was to have the courage to lead the transformation of British Taekwondo’s trajectory towards a more inclusive, credible, and professional organisation than ever before. The job is certainly not done yet, but I am proud of what we have achieved so far!

In addition to my contributions within British Taekwondo, I have also established strong working relations with other domestic and international bodies. Through my involvement and engagement with these bodies, I have brought valuable resources, partnerships, and opportunities to further elevate British Taekwondo and its ambitions.

As for my desire to serve for another term, my last term, it stems from my unwavering commitment to the development and progress of Taekwondo within British Taekwondo and beyond. I believe that my skills, experiences, and networks can continue to contribute significantly to British Taekwondo’s growth and success. I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to further enhance our coach education, the performance programs, organise more exceptional events, and foster relationships with national and international bodies to strengthen British Taekwondo’s position internationally.
