Save the date for the British International Open in Manchester this summer.
For the first time in over a decade the British International Open (combat sport) will take place in Manchester on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd July 2023.
Building on British Taekwondo’s highly successful partnership with Manchester City Council this event will take place in the newly refurbished ‘medal factory’ National Cycling Centre in Manchester, host to many successful British Championships during the last decade. Having recently completed a multi-million-pound refurbishment this world class venue is the ideal location to announce the return of the UK to the international Open calendar.
- Senior Kyorugi divisions will take place on Saturday 1st July and will hold G1 status for World Taekwondo rankings.
- Cadet and Junior divisions will take place on Sunday 2nd July and will hold E1 status European Taekwondo Union rankings.
This exciting addition to the Combat Sport calendar in 2023 offers British Taekwondo members the opportunity to gain international ranking points whilst competing on home soil against a field of high-quality international competitors.
The entry portal for this event will be on Simply Compete. All athletes will need a GAL (Global Athlete Licence) to enter, and coaches will need a GOL (Global Official Licence). British Taekwondo strongly advises athletes and coaches who intend to enter the British International Open to apply for a GAL/GOL as early as possible.
The event outline for the British International Open will be published later this month and will be sent directly to British Taekwondo club coaches, published on the British Taekwondo website, and on the Simply Compete entry portal.
Spectator tickets for the event.
Spectator tickets for the British International Open will be available for sale online in April and more information will be published across British Taekwondo channels closer to the time.
How do I obtain a World Taekwondo Global Licence (GAL/GOL)?
Global athlete licences and Global official licences can be requested by coaches only.
Please read through the GALGOL Instructions, and then fill out the GALGOL Membership Application Form and email this to membership.services@britishtaekwondo.org. These documents can be found below:
Is there no veterans category for this event. I see a lot of G competitions are now including a Maters division which would be good.
