Level 2 Coaching 1

British Taekwondo is committed to supporting coach development – without making it a barrier to participation. After listening to club and coach feedback regarding the Level 2 Coaching Award, we have made the following changes: 

✔️ Immediate changes 

  • Phased payment plans being introduced (e.g. 3 monthly instalments of £100) 
  • Support for coaches who partially completed the withdrawn Level 2 course 
  • Group discounts for bookings of 15+ candidates (£50 discount per person) 
  • Funding resources compiled to support coach education across the UK – find more here 
  • Easyfundraising available for clubs to generate free income Sign up here 

🔍 What we’re looking into 

  • Recognition of prior learning (APL) 
  • Tailored Taekwondo-specific modules (advisory group led) 
  • Community consultation group to shape future training offers 

⬆️ Improving course delivery 

To improve the coach learning experience, we’ve launched a new Google Classroom & LMS platform, helping us: 

  • Streamline communication 
  • Track learner progress 
  • Improve overall course delivery and support

💻 Membership system & customer service 

As part of our membership system transition, we’re prioritising improvements to streamline processes and reduce the admin burden on clubs. 

✔️ Here’s what we’ve done: 

  • Appointed a new Head of Membership to lead improvements 
  • Restructured internal teams to focus on core member services 
  • Created a new Customer Charter [Read more] 
  • Ongoing collaboration with Sport:80 to fix key issues 

👥 Membership model review 

We’re reviewing our membership structures to better reflect the needs of our diverse community. This includes: 

  • Early-stage planning with club consultation 
  • Exploring flexible, inclusive models 
  • Better alignment with club delivery and member expectations
