British Taekwondo is pleased to announce that Carolina Barros Clark from LTA (2nd Class, Education & Progression Manager, Poomsae Referee Department) and Gillian Waite from Wayside UTA (3rd Class, Northern Ireland) have attended the 63rd World Taekwondo Poomsae International Referee Refresher Course in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, held from 20–23 February 2026, proudly representing the UK.
This four‑day intensive course featured advanced sessions delivered by Dr. Jun Cheol Yoon, WT Referee Chairman, with a strong focus on Freestyle Poomsae rules, movement analysis, high‑level expression, and scoring practice.
“A key development this year was WT Educational Department’s new approach of splitting the IR Seminar and Refresher Course, allowing the refresher to concentrate more deeply on advanced referee analysis. Participants also benefited from expanded Para‑Taekwondo content, led by the Chairman of the World Para Committee, Master Usman Dildar, covering Para Classification, Para Poomsae Competition Rules, Psychological & Biological Aspects, and Para‑Taekwondo Scoring.”
Carolina and Gillian’s participation ensures that British referees continue to meet the highest global standards and return with the latest WT updates to support the development of UK athletes, judges, and national events. British Taekwondo looks forward to the expertise and insight they will bring back to the community.
