Our refreshed and updated Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Taekwondo has launched.

The first course for our Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Taekwondo was delivered recently. British Taekwondo is aspiring to become a world-leading National Governing Body over the next ten years. To achieve this aim, we require a top-quality Coach Education Pathway for our coaches.

The course is designed to support how coaches effectively undertake their duties to the best of their ability, and in the best interests of their students.

British Taekwondo are working with our awarding body (1st4Sport) and UK Coaching to ensure the Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Taekwondo is the best coach education experience available.

Neil Burton, Education Officer at British Taekwondo said “We want our amazing sport to flourish with the best equipped and knowledgeable coaches there is. First and foremost, we want Taekwondo to be the best sporting and physical activity available in the community, providing a safe and effective training environment for all. This means that we want it to have all the right credentials, in this case, a coach qualification that is industry standard and maps to the same professional standards and criteria as other nationally recognised awards.”

Neil added “Our Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Taekwondo is also mapped to the Coaching Standards of the Chartered Institute of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA). With the backing of UK Sport and Sport England, this agency is spearheading an initiative to ensure coaching is regulated and licenced by way of a registration scheme. This means ensuring a correct level of qualification is in place for coaches.”

Neil commented “The course material does not intend to be a burden or hinderance, but is there to provoke thought, understanding, and to promote the need to have a clear and obvious appreciation of effective, safe and inclusive coaching.”
