An update on Club Welfare Officers in British Taekwondo clubs.

From June 2024 it will be mandatory for all British Taekwondo clubs who teach under 18s to have a Club Welfare Officer in place.

In order to offer all new and existing Club Welfare Officers greater flexibility when completing the second part of the Club Welfare Officer training, Time to Listen courses can now be booked via Sport Structures.

Time to Listen is an online workshop delivered virtually over a three-hour period. The Time to Listen workshop will help you carry out your safeguarding role and responsibilities to young people. The workshop will provide the opportunity to discuss a range of topics in a friendly, open and informal environment, as well as providing an opportunity to learn from other Club Welfare Officers.

All learners will receive a copy of a Time to Listen Workbook resource.

An additional benefit of this course is that it is a multi-sport course and is transferable across other sports.

To book a place on the course, please follow the steps below:

  • Ensure that you have completed the NSPCC Child Protection in Sport and Physical Activity eLearning course which is available from British Taekwondo at a discounted price of £26. This is prerequisite to the Time to Listen course.
  • Once complete, book your chosen date for the Time to Listen course at this CPSU Time to Listen Workshop link.
  • Please make payment direct to Sport Structures (all major cards are accepted). The current cost of the course is £37.
  • You will then receive further instructions and joining information from Sport Structures.

Once you have completed the Time to Listen course, please forward your certificate to safeguarding@britishtaekwondo.org
