Paralympics GB athletes Amy Truesdale and Matt Bush won two Paralympic Gold Medals in Paris. The scene of competition was set in a fantastic venue – Grand Palais, Paris, which was an amazing facility to watch the Paralympics GB athletes win their two Gold Medals and become Paralympic Champions.
Amy delivered an outstanding performance through the day including the win in the final against her Uzbeki opponent, Guljonoy Naimova. She adds the Paralympic title to her Bronze medal from the Tokyo Paralympic Games and her 3 World Championship titles and becomes the first ever to hold Paralympic, World and European Champion titles at the same time.


Following Amy’s win, Matt Bush delivered with confidence to become heavyweight Paralympic Champion, winning the Gold without conceding a point to Neutral Paralympic Athlete Aliaskhab Ramazanov. Matt becomes GB Taekwondo’s first male Gold medallist at the Games.
Matt explained – It was unbelievable. It was like nothing we’ve ever done before in Taekwondo…Sport can change lives.
To top off the event for Welshman, Matt was appointed Flag Bearer with Poppy Maskill (S14 Para Swimmer) in the closing ceremony, what a way to finish a fantastic Paris Paralympics.
GB Taekwondo are now looking to the next Paralympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028.
Steve Green, Manager of New Sport Projects at GB Taekwondo has been running a campaign during and post Paralympics called Fighterability – #Discover your Fight to explore expressions of interest for any potential para-athletes who may be interested and have the potential to compete in categories of K41 and K44. Both are physical impairments and for athletes with upper limb impairment(s).
