Update on the Muju Taekwondowon Online 2022 World Taekwondo Poomsae Open Challenge Final.

Four British Taekwondo member athletes have been invited to compete in the Muju Challenge Final.

The Muju Taekwondowon Online 2022 World Taekwondo Poomsae Open Challenge has seen athletes from World Taekwondo member nations compete in a series of online events since March.

Under the rules laid out, the top eight athletes from Muju Challenge I and II have been invited to compete in the Muju Challenge final.

The live final of the event will take place in October.

The Great Britain players who have qualified for the Muju Taekwondowon Online 2022 World Taekwondo Poomsae Open Challenge Final are Colin Larkin and Katie Vaughn who competed in Open Challenge I, and Nino Ontoy and Zaw Torley who competed in Open Challenge II.

The GB Muju Taekwondowon Online 2022 World Taekwondo Poomsae Open Challenge finalists are:

  • U17M – Nino Ontoy – Manx Taekwondo
  • U17M Freestyle – Zaw Torley – Arumchan Korea
  • Colin Larkin (U65 Male) – Fighting Spirit
  • Katie Vaughan (U30 Freestyle) – Jem Taekwondo

The format for the Muju Challenge Final is a split between pre-recorded video and a live broadcast.

Muju Taekwondowon Online 2022 World Taekwondo Poomsae Open Challenge Final 2

Katie Vaughan from Jem Taekwondo said “I was proud to be selected to represent GB in the over 18 freestyle category for the Muju Online World Championships and delighted to qualify for the final in 5th place.”

The pre-recorded finals begin on Friday 30th September, with live finals on the 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th October.

Poomsae Open Challenge I place through March and April, with Poomsae Open Challenge II took place online through July and August.

The events in the series have seen players compete in their home countries with video clips of their activities uploaded to the event website for official judging and scoring.
