Do you think you could swim 10 miles in under eight hours for charity?

Leslie Ng post for inside the article

That is exactly what 2nd Dan Black Belt Leslie Ng is doing on Sunday 4th of December at Hucknall Leisure Centre in Nottingham.

Leslie will be undertaking this challenge in aid of Dementia UK and charity Under One Roof which helps people in his local area of Hucknall.

Why Swimming?

Earlier this year, Leslie suffered an injury to his knee which has prevented him from training while he waits for surgery, however he has managed to remain involved in Taekwondo by coaching and teaching at his club – Kang Han in Hucknall, Nottingham.

To remain active, Leslie took up swimming but wanted a goal to work towards to keep him motivated. This is where the idea for a 10-mile swim came from and, after discussions with the manager of his local leisure centre, he decided on raising money for Under One Roof and Dementia UK.

How can you support Leslie’s Charity work?

If any members of the Taekwondo community would like to donate to Leslie’s efforts, they can do so by following the link to his JustGiving page. We understand that not everyone will be able to donate at this time, however we would love for the Taekwondo community to get behind Leslie and show him lots of support via his Facebook page.

Leslie started Taekwondo back in 2016 with his son Lucas and it has been a father and son adventure for them over the past six years. Lucas is now part of the GB Poomsae Squad, and we wish Leslie a speedy recovery from his Knee injury so he can continue his Taekwondo journey with his Lucas.

Some final words of wisdom from Leslie “Anything is possible. Even for me who had no swimming training as a child. I only learnt to swim with school. Set yourself a target and do it. I just want to show that once you put your mind to it, anything is possible.”
