British Taekwondo is seeking passionate, forward-thinking, and ambitious individuals to join our Board as a Non-Executive Director, helping shape the future of one of the UK's most inspiring and dynamic sports and Martial Arts.
This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact on Taekwondo across the United Kingdom. From grassroots clubs developing confidence in young people for the very first time, to athletes representing Great Britain on the world stage, British Taekwondo is looking for leaders who want to be part of that journey.
British Taekwondo has established itself as a leading force within the international Taekwondo community. In 2023, the organisation was recognised globally when it received the prestigious World Taekwondo Member National Association of the Year award during the World Taekwondo Gala Awards, a reflection of the work being done to innovate, grow, and modernise the sport and Martial Art across the UK.
For us, that was only the beginning.
Every day, affiliated clubs across the country provide opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to improve their physical and mental wellbeing, build confidence, develop discipline, and become part of welcoming and supportive communities.
Our ambition is to strengthen those foundations even further; growing participation, supporting clubs, and building a sustainable and connected grassroots structure that allows the sport to thrive for generations to come.

British Taekwondo is proud to be both a guardian of our martial art and a driving force for the positive impact Taekwondo can have across society. From grassroots clubs in local communities to athletes performing on the Olympic, Paralympic, World and European stages, we believe Taekwondo has the power to inspire confidence, improve wellbeing, and create opportunities for people from all backgrounds to thrive.
Across both Kyorugi and Poomsae, British athletes continue to establish Great Britain as one of the leading nations in international Taekwondo. Kyorugi Athletes such as Caden Cunningham, Lauren Williams, Bradly Sinden and Rebecca McGowan have inspired the next generation through medal-winning performances at Olympic, World and European level, showcasing the resilience, professionalism, and ambition that defines British Taekwondo.
At the same time, British Poomsae and Para Poomsae athletes have helped transform Great Britain into one of Europe's fastest-growing and most successful nations within the discipline. The 2025 European Poomsae and Para Poomsae Championships in Tallinn provided further evidence of the programme's growth. The likes of Louis Exton, Adrianna Beard and Summer Waheed contributed towards history being made as Great Britain claimed a record 19 medals across all events, as well as winning the European Para Poomsae Team Trophy for the first time in Estonia.

Beyond medals and podium finishes, the wider British Taekwondo community prides itself on being welcoming, supportive, and inclusive. Across more than 500 affiliated clubs nationwide, coaches, volunteers, officials, and members work tirelessly to create environments where people feel safe, valued, and empowered to reach their potential. We strive to bring out the best in people, helping individuals build confidence, resilience, discipline, and lifelong friendships through Taekwondo.
We also recognise the importance of continuing to evolve as an organisation and as a sport. Like the wider sporting sector, we know there is more work to do to ensure Taekwondo is fully accessible and representative of the diverse communities we serve. We are committed to challenging ourselves, broadening opportunities, and ensuring our clubs and pathways remain inclusive for everyone, regardless of background or experience.
British Taekwondo is seeking applications from individuals within the Taekwondo community who are passionate about supporting the continued growth and development of our sport, and who are interested in helping British Taekwondo deliver against its strategic vision for the future.
As a Non-Executive Director, you will play a vital role in guiding the strategic direction of British Taekwondo, helping us modernise, innovate, and deliver meaningful impact throughout our community. We are looking for individuals who bring energy, fresh thinking, and a commitment to positive change, people who understand the power of sport to inspire communities and transform lives.
Whether your expertise comes from business, governance, finance, digital innovation, community development, safeguarding, marketing, commercial partnerships, or elite sport, this is your chance to contribute to something bigger than yourself.
Together, we can build a stronger future for British Taekwondo, one rooted in respect, resilience, community, and ambition.
If you wish to be considered as we search for our next Non-Executive Director, please send a CV and Cover Letter to recruitment@britishtaekwondo.org by 23:59 on Friday 3rd July.
