British Taekwondo are pleased to announce the Great Britain National Poomsae team selected for the 2026 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships, which will take place in Chuncheon, South Korea, from September 16–20, 2026.

34 athletes will be travelling to South Korea for the event in three months’ time, with 13 entries in individual competitions, five pairs and ten teams all set to take to the mats across the five days of action.

The British team picked up five medals in the previous staging of the World Championships in Hong Kong, with Nino Ontoy becoming the first Briton to earn an individual medal back in 2024. The Isle of Man native earned bronze in the U30 category two years ago, and is set to go head to head with the best in the World once again this time around.

GB earned a total of two silver medals and three bronze in the previous World Championships, with the two second-place finishes coming in the Over 60 division, as Colin Larkin, Mike Pejic and Ali Pourtaheri coming runners-up in the Male Team event, while Virginia Brown, Jenny Furness and Marina Malaffo did similar in the female category.

A number of those competitors will be back to earn more silverware this time around, while European Champions Louis Exton and Adrianna Beard will be hoping to impress on the world stage following continental success in 2025.

While they won’t be competing together as they did to win gold in the U17 Mixed Pairs at the European Poomsae Championships last year, the duo will still have high hopes for their trip to South Korea. Louis will be competing in the U17 Male Individual and U17 Team division alongside Gabriel Casaclang and Peter Sellwood, while Adrianna has made the step up to compete in the U30 Female Individual and U30 Team category with Natasha Wilson and Renee Marshall.

Having impressed in Estonia in 2025 with a record-breaking number of medals at a European Championships, we wish our team the best of luck in South Korea in September as teams travel from all across the world to take part in a massive celebration of Poomsae in the birthplace of Taekwondo.
