British International Open 2026 1

British Taekwondo is proud to announce its full 2026 Event Calendar, showcasing one of our biggest and most diverse annual schedules to date.

The National Kyorugi Championships and National Poomsae Championships remain cornerstones of our competitive calendar, offering key opportunities for athletes to test themselves at the highest domestic level.

The National Kyorugi Championships are scheduled to take place at the now familiar home of EIS Sheffield on the weekend of 3-4th October, while the National Poomsae Championships will follow a month later, as we make our annual pilgrimage to the David Ross Sports Village to celebrate our Poomsae community on 7-8th November.

As well as competitions, we also have a number of development, education and grading events scheduled for 2026, with the first of which being a Kyorugi Referee Education Camp at the University of Nottingham on the weekend of 9-10th January.

This course is open to any current British Taekwondo member looking to level up their officiating. Whether you have experience in refereeing or want to try for the first time, we would love to see you there!

We also have an Instructor Summit scheduled for the weekend of 7-8 February in Birmingham, where members are invited to join us to collaborate and learn together, and continue to excel as a community.

One of the biggest events of the year lands on 2–3 May in London, where the London Open is expected to obtain G-Class status, this is a major milestone for Poomsae in the UK and reflecting the rising prominence of our community within the global sporting scene.

The British International Open is once again planned for Manchester, with hopes of securing G-status once more. While the date is still to be confirmed, anticipation is already growing for another world-class event on home soil at the National Cycling Centre.

Following the success of the National Dan Grading events at the National Taekwondo Centre last weekend,  there is another event scheduled for November 22nd at the same venue.

We look forward to seeing our athletes, coaches, referees, volunteers, and supporters across the country as we build another year of growth, professionalism, and community spirit.

With over 30 club-hosted events scheduled for the next 12 months, multiple national championships, grading weekends, and key development opportunities, 2026 is shaping up to be a landmark year for our community.

A standout milestone next year is the debut Taekwondo Machine Open on Sunday 20th September in Manchester. This major step forward is a testament to the hard work and vision of Danyal Mirzaie, Lucy Walton and the team, who have built exceptional momentum in the region.

As well as that, our friends in Northern Ireland have brought their Kyorugi 1-2-1 event back for 2026, with a fantastic weekend of action expected in Belfast across the weekend of 18-19 April, Poomsae on the Saturday followed by Kyorugi on the Sunday.

With a packed calendar, returning favourites, new hosts, international-level events, and expanded development opportunities, 2026 is set to be a truly exceptional year for British Taekwondo.
