Details of a Board member seeking re-appointment.
Ahead of the Annual General Meeting of British Taekwondo on Saturday 2nd December the Board members seeking re-appointment have provided details of why they are seeking re-appointment.
In this post you can read more about Shaun Gagie.
Shaun Gagie, Independent Non-Executive Director
I have been serving as a Board member for British Taekwondo since 2020. As a Board member, I have contributed to the organisation’s compliance with the regulatory safeguarding standards for the governing body, working in close collaboration with the Safeguarding & Compliance Manager and the Executive Team.

I have a strong background in Human Resources and Safeguarding, having worked as a Head of HR and Governance for the Governing Body Basketball England. Currently, I work in social housing as a Head of People and Culture, where I specialise in organisational safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion, and HR management.
In collaboration with the Safeguarding & Compliance Manager, I have played a key role in developing and implementing new policies and procedures to ensure safeguarding across British Taekwondo’s clubs.
I have also helped the British Taekwondo enhance its people practices and procedures, enabling the staff to provide a better experience for the clubs and members. Furthermore, I have supported the creation and delivery of the 10-year strategic plan for British Taekwondo, which aims to support the current clubs and members and to build capacity for future growth of club membership to British Taekwondo.
I am seeking re-appointment as a Board member for British Taekwondo as I have only served for three years. I have a strong desire to support the delivery of the strategic plan and to continue to help British Taekwondo strengthen its safeguarding and people policies and procedures. I would also like to help British Taekwondo achieve a recognised safeguarding standard with the CPSU and Sport England as I believe this is crucial for the safety and well-being of the clubs and members.
