As part of our 40th anniversary celebrations we’re sharing the stories of our members. In this feature we find out more about Stoke UTA Taekwondo and Master Peter Johnson.

Stoke UTA Taekwondo is a longstanding club having operated for 45 years under Master Peter Johnson (7th Dan).

With branches in Stoke-on-Trent and Cheshire the club has grown in stature over the years, with its students and Instructors winning a myriad of titles and awards.
The club’s star performer, Amy Truesdale, is now a GB Paralympic superstar and started her journey with the club.Stoke UTA Taekwondo

Competition, improvement and celebration are key parts of the club. Master Johnson himself has picked up five WT World Poomsae titles and numerous European and National titles in his career. While students have won a number of City of Stoke-on-Trent Sports Awards. Five members of the club are in the British Taekwondo Poomsae squad and there are budding fighters emerging all the time as the club continues to grow.

Next month will see the club hold a development competition and a celebration of the Commonwealth Games. Club members are helping to organise both, gaining valuable experience.

40 years of British Taekwondo and 45 years of Master Johnson and Stoke UTA Taekwondo are milestones to celebrate and share with students.

Now is a brilliant time to be a part of the club and taking part in Taekwondo. Stoke UTA Taekwondo Instructor Bethany Johnson and Calum Johnson have recently obtained their 4th Dan grades and this helps ensure the future is strong with the club.

You can find out more about Stoke UTA Taekwondo on the club’s website and Facebook Page.
