About the Programme
Taekwondo Tots is British Taekwondo’s new non-contact pre-Taekwondo programme designed especially for children aged 3 to 7.
Combining basic Taekwondo techniques with fundamental movement skills, the programme helps young children develop confidence, coordination, balance, and respect, all while having fun!
Created in partnership with child-development and physical-literacy specialists, Taekwondo Tots takes a holistic approach to early learning, supporting children’s physical, psychological, and social growth through play and movement.
This programme gives young children the chance to explore the excitement of martial arts in a friendly, positive, and inclusive environment. Each session blends simple martial arts movements with engaging games and activities that build core skills such as balance, agility, listening, teamwork, and self-control.
There’s no sparring or contact, just fun, movement, and the chance to develop key life skills through Taekwondo.

Research shows that children in martial arts have some of the highest drop-out rates compared to other sports — often because sessions aren’t designed with their developmental needs in mind.
Taekwondo Tots changes that by focusing on child-centred coaching and long-term engagement, ensuring every session is age-appropriate, playful, and rewarding.
This programme has six key aims:
-
Give clubs a strong foundation for growth.
-
Increase retention through engaging, fun sessions.
-
Make Taekwondo enjoyable for both children and coaches.
-
Provide easy-to-deliver session plans and templates.
-
Add value for parents through visible development and rewards.
-
Support coaches to create safe, inspiring sessions that children love.
