For the first time in over a decade the British International Open (combat sport) will take place in Manchester on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd July 2023.

Building on British Taekwondo’s highly successful partnership with Manchester City Council this event will take place in the newly refurbished ‘medal factory’ National Cycling Centre in Manchester, host to many successful British Championships during the last decade. Having recently completed a multi-million-pound refurbishment this world class venue is the ideal location to announce the return of the UK to the international Open calendar.

  • Senior Kyorugi divisions will take place on Saturday 1st July and will hold G1 status for World Taekwondo rankings.
  • Cadet and Junior divisions will take place on Sunday 2nd July and will hold E1 status European Taekwondo Union rankings.

Entry applications are now open via World Taekwondo’s Simply Compete website.

  • Players can enter a second division at the British International Open: If you are eligible to compete as a Junior and a Senior (born in 2006), you can now enter both age groups. Please be aware that you will need to pay a second entry fee and you will need to weigh in separately for both divisions.
  • The registration deadline for the British International Open has been extended to midnight on Friday 23rd June.
