British Taekwondo is delighted to announce that Non-Executive Director Usman Dildar has been reappointed as Chair of the World Taekwondo Para Taekwondo Committee, as announced by WT on Friday.
World Taekwondo confirmed the reappointment of Mr Dildar, alongside its Technical Commission Chair, as well as the Chairs of the Games Committee, Referee Committee and Medical & Anti-Doping Committee to reinforce stability and continuity as preparations intensify for the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Having first been appointed into the role in August 2023, Usman has played a key role in advancing the development and global reach of Para Taekwondo during his time on the Para Committee, and was named as British Taekwondo Non-Executive Director in October 2025.
The World Taekwondo Committee Chairs will serve a two-year term, extending through to the conclusion of the World Taekwondo Junior Championships in Lima, Peru following the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Usman will continue to work alongside fellow World Taekwondo Committee Chairs following the reappointment, with Philippe Bouedo (FRA) continuing as Chair of the Technical Commission, bringing invaluable expertise gained over decades of involvement at the highest levels of the sport, including multiple Olympic Games.
Mohamed Shaaban (EGY) has been reappointed as Chair of the Games Committee and, following his successful role as World Taekwondo Technical Delegate at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, has also been reappointed as Technical Delegate for the LA28 Olympic Games.
Zhu Linfang (CHN), who was appointed as Referee Committee Chair in 2024, has been reappointed and will continue to draw on her extensive Olympic refereeing experience from Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024.
Dr. Frank Duren (GER), who also assumed the Chair position of the Medical & Anti-Doping Committee in 2024, has been reappointed in recognition of his contributions to safeguarding athlete health and promoting clean sport.
We congratulate Usman Dildar on this great achievement, and we look forward to even more advancement in Para Taekwondo during his time on the Committee.
Usman will be part of a dedicated Para Taekwondo MNA Development Workshop, delivered by senior World Taekwondo leadership at Lee Valley Athletic Centre, London on Wednesday 29th April.
This is a rare opportunity to gain direct insight from the people shaping Para Taekwondo globally, and to strengthen our national pathway across coaching, classification, and event delivery. We encourage as many of you to sign up as possible to make those most of this opportunity.
