British International Open 2026 3

The stage is set for the 2026 British International Open, taking place at the National Cycling Centre, Manchester on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th April.

Over 600 athletes are set to take part in the biggest international Kyorugi competition in the UK this year, with valuable Los Angeles 2028 qualification points at stake for Olympic hopefuls in Saturday’s Senior event.

Over two thrilling days of action, spectators can expect fast-paced bouts, passionate displays, and electrifying competition as some of the World’s finest Taekwondo talent take to the mats in front of a pulsating home crowd.

The event also acts as a platform for rising stars, many of whom will be competing at the British International Open for the first time as they aspire to international success in the future.

Many British athletes will be taking to the mats in front of their home crowd in Manchester, with GB Taekwondo stars Zak Angell, Phoenix Goodman, Rebecca McGowan and Teigan Smith among those to don the GBR Dobok over the course of the weekend.

Etta Choi, Dantrell Knight-Mitchell, Courtney Kramoh, Ruby Mackay and Chloe Roberts make up an impressive British outfit, while plenty more British Taekwondo clubs and members will all have hopes for medals across the two days of action.

“It is an honour to welcome the World Taekwondo family back to Manchester – a city that has become a true home for our sport in the UK,” said British Taekwondo President, Sarah Stevenson-Jennings MBE OLY

“The British International Open shines a light on the very best of our community, from elite athletes hoping to earn senior medals, to the rising stars who are the future of our sport.

“This weekend reflects not only the excellence seen around the world, but also the extraordinary depth of talent nurtured here in the UK, which is testament to the passion and dedication within British Taekwondo.

“We look forward to two days of action at the National Cycling Centre, and what promises to be a huge celebration of our Kyorugi community.”

With over 60 different nationalities represented on the mats in Manchester, we look forward to welcoming the athletes from across the World to the UK to compete in this G-1 event.

It’s set to be fast, frenetic and action-packed, and we can’t wait to get the action started in Manchester!
