Details of the President role at British Taekwondo.

At the Annual General Meeting of British Taekwondo on Saturday 2nd December the re-appointment of the President role at British Taekwondo will require approval.

In this post you can read more about Sarah Stevenson.

Sarah Stevenson, President & Non-Executive Director

My role as President of British Taekwondo is to be an outward facing representative of our Member National Association (MNA), which I do to the best of my ability, and I am enormously proud of. This is done both domestically and internationally. In some countries the President role is more directly involved in the management of the organisation and the staff team.

Sarah Stevenson

In Great Britain we have a much more democratic and professional structure, and we are incredibly lucky at British Taekwondo to have a diverse range of people on our management board, executive team and office staff that do this on the ground.

I sit and serve on this management board as a director too as well as on British Taekwondo’s Technical Committee.

Domestically I have strengthened connections with our major stakeholders, GB Taekwondo, UKSI (formerly English Institute of Sport), UK Sport, Sport England and Manchester City Council. These relationships have been formed for many years and continue to positively evolve.

Internationally, I am currently sitting on the ETU Council alongside our GB Taekwondo Performance Director, Mr Gary Hall. After serving previously on the World Taekwondo Council and being the Chair of multiple World Taekwondo Committees, I am confident we are being heard, and our International Relations strategy can be actioned.

I have experience of being a club member, elite athlete, coach, and international relations influencer, I feel I have a breadth of understanding of all areas within British Taekwondo and a huge amount of empathy for our members. It is clear that British Taekwondo can improve in some areas, but I feel these areas have recently been identified and action plans put in place for us to be able to offer a higher level of service to our members.

We have done a huge amount of work in creating our ten-year strategy, there is so much work to do to make this a reality but when we deliver on this the organisation will be really thriving.

I hope to see many of you at the World Taekwondo Grand Prix Final and the AGM, until then, stay safe and thanks for reading.
