The Sport and Recreation Alliance have opened their Community Sport and Recreation Awards for 2023.
Resilience in Adversity Award.
This award celebrates the methods which community clubs have used to keep their participants engaged during difficult periods such as the cost-of-living crisis or local community struggles.
This award recognises the outstanding projects that have adapted their delivery to support grassroots activity over the past year.
Going Green Award
This award celebrates organisations/clubs that are making a commitment towards reducing net emissions and increasing sustainability.
Showing care for the carbon footprint we leave behind is arguably the key issue of our lifetime across society, as well as in the sport and recreation sector.
Diversity and inclusion Award
This award recognises the clubs and programmes who have spent the past year supporting under-represented groups through sport, recreation, or other physical activity.
This award celebrates the work that community sport and creation is doing in this very important area to bring everyone into sport.
Mental Health and Wellbeing Award
It’s well known that participating in sport, recreation and physical activity improves your mental health and wellbeing, and we think its important to recognise those initiatives that directly focus on this.
The Mental Health and Wellbeing Award celebrates the clubs/programmes which have used the power of sport and recreation to promote and enhance positive wellbeing and have been ambassadors for promoting good health and wellbeing policies.
Youth Development Award
The Youth Development Award celebrates clubs/programmes/schools that are engaging and significantly improving the lives of children and young people in their community through sport, recreation or physical activity.
This award recognises the work taking place to get previously inactive children into sport and recreation and active on a regular basis.
Inspiration of the Year
This award recognises the individuals within sport and recreation who have inspired others through the support they have provided to their community during the past 12 months.
Community Club of the Year
Community clubs are the heartbeat of sport and recreation in this country, and the Community Club of the Year Award celebrates those organisations, clubs and programmes that have directly improved the local community throughout the last 12 months.
Volunteer of the Year
This award celebrates all the hours of commitment that volunteers have given over the past 12 months to improve the lives of people within their community.
Volunteers are the glue that holds the sport and recreation sector together, and the work they continue to do, despite the cost-of-living crisis, is essential to the function of our sector.
