Can you help with a university research project about Vocal Fatigue in Populations that Practice Taekwondo?
What is the aim of this study?
Taekwondo is a martial art where practitioners are expected to shout/yell/’ki-hap’ when performing certain techniques.
Therefore, this study will explore whether practicing Taekwondo has an impact on a person’s voice, after a Taekwondo session and in their daily lives. It will give an insight into whether further research needs to be done in the area to explore other martial art styles. Also, it will demonstrate if practicing martial arts is a factor that needs to be considered when Speech and Language Therapists work with people who have voice problems or vocal fatigue.
How long will the research take?
Completing the questionnaire should not take longer than 10-15 minutes.
Who is organising the research?
This research project is being undertaken by Sam McLoughlin, a Speech and Language Therapy student at Leeds Beckett University who participates in Taekwondo in their free time.
Participating in the study is completely voluntary and the research is not affiliated with any Taekwondo association or federation.
