British Taekwondo Partners with TeachAids to further develop Concussion Awareness and Understanding in Taekwondo.

We are proud to announce a new partnership with TeachAids, a non-profit leader in global education innovation.

CrashCourse

Together, we will distribute CrashCourse Concussion to educate Officials, Players, Coaches and the wider community through our membership, now totalling almost 18,000 people. CrashCourse is an education initiative to provide the latest medical knowledge about the prevention and treatment of concussion in sport.

Developed alongside leading medical, education, engineering, and science researchers and with input from their world-class coaches and student athletes, CrashCourse offers a unique educational experience that helps correct common myths and misconceptions to help better recognise and address symptoms of a concussion.

Because Taekwondo is a contact sport, it is important to understand the signs and symptoms of a concussion, and how to respond if a concussion has been sustained. In an effort to promote positive health and safety, we will make this education freely available on the British Taekwondo website to educate our members and also embed it into existing Coach and Referee Training Courses.

“It is exciting to see Taekwondo athletes gain better awareness and understanding surrounding concussions.” said three-time GBR Olympian and British Taekwondo President, Sarah Stevenson MBE.

“British Taekwondo is excited to partner with TeachAids and their team of experts in the field of concussion,” said British Taekwondo Chief Executive Ian Leafe. “This partnership will not only provide a valuable resource for our Coaches, Officials and Members but it is also another critical step towards ensuring the safety of our athletes at all levels, both in practice and in competition.”

“It’s been an incredible experience to work with British Taekwondo to institute CrashCourse concussion education into their programming. The leadership they have exhibited to make their sport safer is an example for all,” said Dr Piya Sorcar, Founder and CEO of TeachAids.

The CrashCourse curriculum will be instituted throughout British Taekwondo’s programmes nationwide starting today via the British Taekwondo website.
