Taekwondo Assistant Coach Award

About the British Taekwondo Assistant Coach Award.

The Assistant Coach Award has been created to help all those assisting Taekwondo sessions gain invaluable knowledge and experience, whilst working alongside their club coach in a class setting as they progress through the award.

All current Assistant Coaches within British Taekwondo clubs or, members who are 16 years or older with a red belt or higher grade hoping to get into coaching, can sign up to take the British Taekwondo Assistant Coach Award.

The Assistant Coach Award features a mixture of online and practical learning modules for new and aspiring coaches including:

  • Online Child Protection in Sport & Physical Activity course.
  • Online UK Coaching ‘Assistant Coach’ course and certificate.
  • Practical Mentoring Pack to work through, at your own pace within your club.
  • Brilliant Basics tutorial videos for the Combat Sport and Poomsae.
  • Helpful Session Plan examples to guide practical session creation.
  • Mentor observation tools and a British Taekwondo Assistant Coach certificate.

How long will it take to complete the entire course?

The award should take approximately 10 hours to complete, made up of the following activities:

  • 4-6 hours of online study and questionnaires at your own pace.
  • Review of best practice for teaching the combat sport and Poomsae via a Brilliant Basics video, featuring top coaches and athletes.
  • Assist in the delivery and review of 5 hours-worth of pre-written session plans, including elements of the brilliant basics videos for candidates to deliver in the club, overseen by your Club Coach Mentor.

UK Coaching module

This course features three immersive and interactive modules, where you will support ‘Coach Jay’ in delivering safe and enjoyable experiences of sport and physical activity to participants at the virtual UK Coaching Games.

This eLearning module is also worth four CIMSPA CPD points.

You will also have access to over one-thousand pieces of additional online learning via a twelve-months subscription to the UK Coaching platform, with helpful links to coaching tips, guides, and conversations to strengthen your coaching knowledge.
