Sport Referees : Return to Officiating roadmap

It has been a long time since our last Kyorugi event, and it looks like some events are starting to mobilise now that some restrictions are being gradually relaxed.

Event hosts are proceeding with the planning of their events on the assumption that the UK Government will lift restrictions when it is seen as safe to run events indoors, with or potentially without restrictions being put in place.

What we need to do as a Sport Referee Team is make sure we are ready to go when we have the green light, so below is our Sport Referee Return to Play path as we see it.

We fully understand and support BT’s position in the recent comms that events cannot go ahead until we are given the green light by SE and DCMS. Event hosts are promoting competitions as early as 18th July so we need to be prepared to deliver these events on the assumption they will go ahead with a number of unknowns such as safety, indoor restrictions etc.

Clubs signing up to participate in these upcoming events should keep in close contact with event hosts and understand refund and cancellation policies.

Officials signing up to participate in events should also keep in regular contact with the Sport Referee Department for the latest information on event status.

It has been a long time since we all met up to participate in such events so we hope you will value the above Courses and their content. There is lots to share with you which will make being a Sport Referee Team Member more open, transparent and fair for all.

  1. Events Restrictions

Theses remain unknown at this time however, all Referees will be required to adopt the processes, controls and restrictions as advised by DCMS, Sport England & British Taekwondo at the time of each event.

We look forward to working with our sport referees again and seeing you all in a ring somewhere soon!
