Last week saw the beginning of the 2021 Online World Taekwondo Poomsae Challenge (I Juniors).
This month long event is the first of a three part series of Poomsae Challenge Events through 2021, culminating in a Grand Final the end of the year. It focuses attention on the Junior age group attracting the best athletes from around the World representing their country for the National Team entry in both Poomsae and Freestyle Poomsae. Alongside this there is also a separate Open Competition for Poomsae players across the globe to participate in.
In the National Team Poomsae category Great Britain are being represented by Natasha Wilson (Central) and Aditya Odjhavi (LTA). Following four days of tough competition in the preliminary round we are pleased to announce that Natasha has qualified for the semi-finals next week also joining Amy Stewart (Lisburn) who will represent Great Britain in the semi-final of the Freestyle Poomsae event. In a tough Junior Male category Aditya put on a fantastic performance but unfortunately just missed out on qualification through to the next round of the event.
In the Open Poomsae event Great Britain were represented by British Taekwondo members both from the GB National Poomsae Squad as well as club members. We are proud to confirm Ruby Mackay (Gajok) has advanced through to the semi finals of the competition following strong performances of Taeguek 4 and Koryo.
We wish Natasha, Amy and Ruby the best of luck going forward into their semi finals and look forward to seeing their performances which will be streamed from 18-21st April.
