Latest Covid & Club Assistance Pack Update (Edition 22 – Amended 08.01.21)

Dear BT Members,

We hope you all had a nice time over the Christmas and New Year break and would like to update you all on some of the lockdown changes since our last update.

Given the latest tightening of COVID restrictions by each of the home nation governments, the following changes have been made to the BT Club Assistance Pack (v22), which everyone should read through to familiarise themselves with what is and isn’t permitted in their respective home nation.

There is also a Summary Table below to summarise and simplify the latest guidance for BT clubs in each of the home nations. We will continue to do our best to keep you up to date with the latest guidance and hope you are all keeping yourselves and your members safe.

Updates to the Club Assistance Pack

  • RETURN TO COACHING GUIDANCE – INDOORS AND OUTDOORS

Following a discussion with Sport England, British Taekwondo would like to update our clubs in England on permitted coached outdoor exercise activity in England only. The text highlighted below in red font and the England section of the ‘Summary Table’ below has been amended today, Friday 8th January:

ENGLAND

The Westminster Government announced on Monday 4th January 2021 that the country would be in lockdown from midnight on Tuesday 5th January 2021. This means that all indoor face to face classes and coaching activities must cease across England. Only outdoor coaching for a single household (plus the coach) or up to a maximum of 2 people from 2 households (2 people plus the coach) is permitted with social distancing maintained throughout.

All BT clubs should look to start or continue their online delivery of sessions by following the guidance in sections 1 and 2 of this document as well as the online guidance from previous BT Coach Conference Calls, which can be found on the ‘Events’ tab on the BT website:

SCOTLAND

The Scottish Government announced on Monday 4th January 2021 that the country would be in lockdown from midnight on Tuesday 5th January 2021. This means that all face to face class activities must cease across Scotland. Only one to one coaching outdoors with social distancing is permitted.

All BT clubs should look to start or continue their online delivery of sessions by following the guidance in sections 1 and 2 of this document as well as the online guidance from previous BT Coach Conference Calls, which can be found on the ‘Events’ tab on the BT website:

NORTHERN IRELAND

The Northern Ireland Government announced that the country would be in lockdown from midnight on Saturday 26th December 2021. This means that all face to face class and coaching activities must cease across Northern Ireland, and only individual outdoor exercise is permitted once per day.

All BT clubs should look to start or continue their online delivery of sessions by following the guidance in sections 1 and 2 of this document as well as the online guidance from previous BT Coach Conference Calls, which can be found on the ‘Events’ tab on the BT website:

WALES

The Welsh Government announced that the country would be in lockdown from midnight on Saturday 19th December 2021. This means that all face to face class and coaching activities must cease across Wales, and only individual outdoor exercise is permitted once per day.

All BT clubs should look to start or continue their online delivery of sessions by following the guidance in sections 1 and 2 of this document as well as the online guidance from previous BT Coach Conference Calls, which can be found on the ‘Events’ tab on the BT website:

*’Elite Level Sport’ for BT clubs means GB Taekwondo athletes training at the COVID-safe National Taekwondo Centre in Manchester with GB Taekwondo coaches.
