BT is delighted to announce the appointment of two more roles within our volunteer led technical departments.
We are thrilled that Steve Jennings is joining our Sport Performance Department as Operations Manager and Neil Parsley joining as Chair.
Steve, one of GB’s, and the World’s top Olympic coaches, brings an enormous wealth of experience and understanding of performance programs. As part of BT’s wider strategy to redevelop all of our technical departments, he will support the structural development and drive the planning and operations of our Cadet, Under 21, University and Para programs to provide great learning, squad / team training and competition opportunities for talented and aspiring athletes in the BT system.
Steve said “I’m excited to get started!…..This role provides me with the perfect opportunity to continue developing myself whilst also playing a small part in the journey of some of our future superstars. In order for British Taekwondo to be successful It is important that we work together, and I look forward to collaborating with all our BT sport coaches and fellow department colleagues”
Steve’s role within GB Taekwondo’s high-performance program remains unchanged, and like the rest of the volunteer led technical department people, will give up his valuable personal time to support BT’s ambitions.
GB Taekwondo’s Performance Director Gary Hall said “I would like to congratulate Steve on his appointment to this voluntary position. It will be a great opportunity for Steve to pass on his wealth of knowledge and experience gained through his role as a lead high performance coach within GB Taekwondo”.
Joining Steve, BT are also delighted to announce the appointment of Neil Parsley as Chair of BT’s Sport Performance department.
Neil has 17 years of top-tier experience working within several multi-disciplinary performance support teams over those years, in the build up to Olympic Games and World Cups, including at GB Taekwondo. He has a very clear understanding of what success looks like, and what systems are needed to get there!
Neil will bring this knowledge to the role of chair and drive the development of the long-term strategy, supporting Steve and the rest of the department as we move forward.
Commenting on the appointments, BT CEO Ian Leafe said “We are really happy that individuals of Neil & Steve’s calibre are joining one of our volunteer led technical departments and contributing to our grass roots programs – I look forward to working with them and the other members of the department yet to be appointed – to change the future !!!”
