On Sunday 11th October, the British Taekwondo Poomsae Referee Department hosted the first of the Poomsae Referee Refresher Course series. The day began with Master Glen Culbert leading the first Chief Poomsae Referee Qualification.
The Chief Poomsae Referee Qualification was introduced by the Poomsae Referee Department to teach International Poomsae Referees how to Chief Referee a Poomsae competition. Glen taught the Referees: competition structure, Chief Referee duties and the responsibilities of a Chief Referee. The course was attended by 6 International Poomsae Referees and promoted discussions and approaches to Chief Refereeing.
Sunday Afternoon saw the introduction of the Class 1 Poomsae Referee Refresher course. 10 Class 1 Poomsae Referees joined Glen in revising the Recognised Poomsae Competition Rules, Freestyle Poomsae Competition Rules and Para Poomsae Competition Rules. The course also hosted discussion of referee qualities & duties, scoring and video analysis. The Class 1 Refresher Course ended with a multiple-choice exam with all Poomsae Referees passing! Congratulations to all the Poomsae Referees who joined us and passed their course/s!
