I may have already spoken to some of you but for those of you that don’t know me I’m Rachel Smith and I’m your new, full time, Safeguarding & Compliance Officer.
I joined in February and one of my first tasks was to work with James, our development and coach education officer, to determine an appropriate method of ensuring everyone has up to date Safeguarding training. I’m sure you will appreciate how important this is for all of us in this day and age.
To that end, we have been working on finding a helpful online solution that will assist all of our instructors, and provide something that will dovetail nicely with our new coach education program that will come on stream later this year.
Even better news, is that the BT board have approved funding for this Safeguarding training and assessment module, delivered in partnership with Educare – one of the leading providers of online learning in the UK.
We will be asking 900 coaches and assistant coaches to take this training and online assessment in the coming weeks.
(The normal charge for this type of training and qualification is over £ 20 per person – but all current BT registered coaches will receive this free of charge!!!)
The online safeguarding training will become a pre-requisite to attend BT coach education courses in future so this is a great start into that journey.
James and I plan to roll this out to lead coaches during the next week and assistant coaches just after. Please look out for further announcements and instructions on the BT website and social media.
Remember for any safeguarding concerns I can be contacted on 07568503791 or by email firstname.lastname@example.org
I hope you are surviving these very strange times of social distancing and look forward to meeting you all at some stage in the future.
Bye for now,
