British Taekwondo has taken the decision to suspend all NGB Taekwondo activity for an indefinite period due to the Coronavirus outbreak.  All dates for future NGB competitions and dan gradings will be subject to change dependent on government advice.

Our decision follows careful analysis of the advice issued by the UK Government and regular BT board discussions to assess the full range of information.

It has been made in the interests of the health and safety of our staff, members, their friends and families and the wider community.

Government advice recommends this should extend to clubs’ practices. We cannot enforce this and it is the responsibility of each individual club owner to make the appropriate decision for their circumstances. We will provide an information fact sheet for coaches in the next couple of days offering advice on counter measures that could be taken.

If you have a domestic competition planned in the upcoming weeks government advice is that it be postponed. Again we cannot enforce this. If you are proposing to cancel an event already booked please contact membership services to advise them.

We understand this may result in inconvenience and disappointment to players, coaches, officials, volunteers and supporters but we believe it is necessary to mitigate the transmission risk posed when people gather and to assist in fighting the spread of the illness in the population.

We would encourage all to follow the widely available guidance of public health with regard to maintaining good hygiene to avoid spreading of the Coronavirus. Information on how to do this is provided on the NHS.UK website, with additional information available on the Public Health England blog.

Updates will be issued on a regular basis via our website and social media channels.
