My name is Eamonn O’Rourke, and I have recently taken over as Chair of British Taekwondo.
In the last few weeks you have also had a welcome from our new Chief Executive, Ian Leafe. We are both really excited to join the newly established Board with great ideas and experience to take our sport forward.
We will want to consult, engage and meet our members to work these through over the next few months.
In the meantime there is much housekeeping to get on top of.
We have a great team of staff working in our Manchester office and along with Board Members, we are reviewing all of our financial and governance procedures to make sure that they are fit for purpose and serve our members effectively. We are also engaging with our partners in Sport England, GB Taekwondo and World Taekwondo amongst others to establish what opportunities are available for our sport.
I also wanted to provide early notice of our AGM which this year will be held in Manchester on Saturday 7th December, starting at 11am.
More details will follow over the coming weeks but we would like to use the opportunity of the AGM meeting to have a wider conversation about the future opportunities and vision for our sport.
I wanted to make sure that I provided an early quick introduction to ensure that all of our members and partners were aware of the work that we are getting on with and be assured that our staff and board members are all working hard to invest in back office systems to ensure that they are robust whilst we are reviewing our structure and development plans.
We will be sharing regular updates from now on and would welcome your thoughts and feedback.
