Message from The Chair post The Nationals:

It is nearly a year since the formation of the new Board and I wanted just to say a few words to you all ….

From the getgo it was always my / our desire to be a Board that listened to and served its membership. Listed below are some of the achievements we have made.

I wanted you all to know that we are making great strides establishing British Taekwondo as a ‘tour de force’ on the World Taekwondo stage. We have established a very warm working relationship with President Choue at WT, entertaining him in the UK a couple of weeks ago, where we engendered a closeness to WT which will help serve us well as we try to evolve into a more rounded governing body with a strong international voice; we are in positive discussions with Kukkiwon to establish not only Kukkiwon seminars in the UK but a more streamlined and collective working relationship with them.

We have established a solid safeguarding unit that we hope is now robust and will continue to not only protect our community but has evolved procedures which will hopefully shield our membership from potential predators in the years ahead.

Financially we have secured a very strong position for British Taekwondo. The organisation is in excellent financial health. There will be more on this in the coming weeks.

I was given the honour of being asked to join the ETU council but by far the biggest honour for me, is not only Chairing this very talented Board in a new era, but serving you, our members, in I hope, a professional and caring manner.

You will see from the ‘British Taekwondo Update’ post that a whole new communication system is evolving; for me communication is essential and as I hope I have demonstrated I am personally available to each and every one of you who may have issues that require further discussion.

May I take this opportunity to thank you all for your support to-date. I promise you that we will continue to serve you to the best of our ability at all times.
