Inspired and Determined, Eve Looks to Make her Mark in Taekwondo!

Eve Htut is just 9 years old, but she couldn’t be more sure about what she wants.

Eve has already competed locally in Wales, and even internationally in Tang Soo Do.

Like so many, Eve and her family were inspired by what they saw at the 2012 Games, as a then 19 year old Jade Jones took our first ever Gold for Great Britain in Taekwondo.

Her father brought Eve to try out a session in Cardiff, Taekwondo Cymru, with Master Porl Stone. The youngster was instantly hooked and made a huge decision to leave behind Tang Soo Do and begin her Olympic journey quest.

The Olympic hopeful travels from Llantrisant to Cardiff (a 30 mile round trip) twice a week with her father, where she has been training extremely hard.

Very recently, she competed in her first ever WTF Taekwondo competition; the London International Open. Undeterred by first-time nerves, Eve bagged herself a gold medal!

Eve’s family made the trip from Wales to watch her compete and were extremely surprised by how fast and exciting the sport was, and now her little sister Bell who is just 4, is going to give it a go.

She will now enter another phase of her training with her Coach to prepare for Nationals, where she hopes to step on the podium as a British Taekwondo National Champion.

What a fantastic example of the way that Olympic Taekwondo can inspire.

And hey, who knows where it could lead. As our now 2-time Olympic Champion Jade Jones has quoted: “If you dream it, you can do it!”
